WINNIPEG A 59-year-old man has died following a fire in Dauphin Friday evening. Dauphin RCMP were called to a report of a structure fire at 10:55 p.m. on Second Avenue Northeast on Feb. 12, 2021. When they arrived, Mounties said the structure was engulfed in flames. When the fire was extinguished, firefighters went inside and removed a man from the structure, who was pronounced dead. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, RCMP said. The office of the fire commissioner and Dauphin RCMP are investigating. No other injuries were reported.

WINNIPEG A Winnipeg city councillor is helping mark Black History Month with his own creation. Markus Chambers is recognizing Black inventors with a t-shirt that says Know Their Names. On the back of the shirt is a list of people of colour and what they have invented. I was inspired by the movie Hidden Figures and seeing the story of three women that were responsible for the calculations that helped the United States enter into the space race, Chambers said. He said these were stories that he didn t know and it resulted in him doing his own research into Black history and contributions.
